In 2013, the LCVMPO, in collaboration with the Port of Lewiston and the Lewis-Clark Terminal, initiated a study to plan for the future of moving commerce through Lewiston's Northport area. The study was intended to identify transportation improvements that enhance connectivity between truck, rail, and barge activity in the Northport area. Additionally, the study evaluated the existing rail network within the Northport area and provided recommendations for rail improvement and addressed existing conditions between the Northport area and Highway 12 and Highway 128 road connections. This study was adopted by the LCVMPO Policy Board on April 9, 2014.
